About This Game In The Watchmaker, a puzzle-adventure game, players take on the role of Alexander. In his steampunk world of giant clock mechanisms, Alexander’s routine involves repairing his precious clock tower every day, adjusting its mechanisms, oiling the gears and polishing everything down to the smallest piece. For years, this is the only life he has known.But one day Alexander is awakened by a mysterious voice. This disembodied voice alerts him that something has gone wrong: someone, some unknown being, has sabotaged his beautiful tower. With the clock not working properly, time has gone mad. Consequently, Alexander starts ageing abnormally quickly, leaving him only a handful of time to repair the damage.Guided by the mysterious voice and armed with a magnetic glove and the ability to control time, he must search the halls and arcades of the tower in search of the saboteur. Various obstacles, enemies and riddles buried in the clock’s intricate mechanisms stand in his way. Love the concept, the visuals and the neat puzzles. HOWEVER, if like me you like to explore freely and hate time pressure, this is NOT for you. I gave up after second stage. I simply can't be bothered learning how to race through puzzles - it takes away the enjoyment for me.. Game introduced the rewind time mechanic but the bridge that fell didn't come back and I couldn't progress. This is less than 5 min into the game. Also horribly opitimized with a 3-5 minute initial load screen before even getting to the main menu. Takes less time to refund the game which I'll be doing, sadly. The art is appealing and the concept interesting but utterly wasted with shoddy programming.. So, The Watchmaker has been so far a pretty good game. The controls are quite simple, but the combination you may achieve with them can be really fun! Somehow it reminded me of the Portal (1 and 2) series but with a steampunk environment.The 90-year-old-death makes the game very interesting. You not only have to solve very creative puzzles, but also you have to quick on your solutions. The first 5 minutes can be a bit frustrating while you adapt and learn about the world and environment, but after you learn the basics, it just go directly to puzzle solving. We’d like to thank all of you who helped us to improve the game by providing your valuable feedback.Check out the patch notes below to see what this update brings you: Added "Year Item" that recovers 1 year of life and that allows to guide the player on the map. Alexander ages 30% faster, but is well compensated with the number of items that recover life. The enemies now die in one fell swoop and they give you 5 items that recover life. Added items that recover life by breaking the vases of level 2. The puzzles were simplified for better feeling and are used more sporadically. The syringes of stamina have been eliminated. The magnetic shield was removed based on players feedback. Loading time has substantially improved. Physics boxes were eliminated. The effect of the shadow is introduced in the second level since it is where it is most occupied and we do not saturate the player with information in the first level.
